Installed desalter and dehydrator transformer power units at a refinery
FIELD-INSTALLED POWER SOLUTION

Desalter & Dehydrator Power Units

Project-specific replacement and new-build power units for electrostatic crude-oil desalting and dehydration systems.

Complete desalter and dehydrator transformer power unit on its access platform
Conservatively reframed from a real installed unit; final configuration follows approved project data.
DROP-IN REPLACEMENT OR NEW BUILD

Start with the existing interfaces—not a generic catalog model

A replacement succeeds only when its mechanical, high-voltage and electrical interfaces are confirmed against the installed equipment and the process duty.

  • Mechanical fit: mounting footprint, lifting clearances and service access.
  • High-voltage interface: connection position, flange geometry and insulating arrangement.
  • Electrical duty: project-rated capacity, voltage/tap arrangement, impedance and reactor requirements.
  • Site environment: ambient temperature, hazardous-area requirements and corrosion exposure.
Provide the legacy nameplate, outline drawing, interface dimensions and available process/electrical data for engineering review.
ENGINEERING CONFIRMATION

Six items to verify before replacement design

The final configuration cannot be selected from appearance alone. These inputs establish whether a true drop-in replacement is feasible.

01

Nameplate & duty

Rated capacity, primary supply, secondary/tap arrangement and operating duty.

02

Outline & footprint

Overall envelope, mounting-hole pattern, lifting path and maintenance clearances.

03

HV connection

Exact connection position, flange dimensions and the existing cable/electrode interface.

04

Impedance & reactor

Legacy impedance and reactor arrangement must be confirmed from project documentation.

05

Hazardous area

Applicable protection concept, gas group, temperature class and certification basis.

06

Ambient & corrosion

Temperature, altitude, salt spray, process atmosphere and coating requirements.

COMPLETE PROCESS CONTEXT

Power equipment is only one interface in the desalting system

The transformer or power unit must be coordinated with the vessel, electrode system, process controls and site electrical interfaces. A complete-system view helps prevent decisions based on the transformer nameplate alone.

Engineering boundary

Protection concept, certification marking and final electrical/process performance require confirmation against current standards, approved drawings and project data. Historical nameplate designations should not be treated as automatically equivalent.
